At Texas Vogue Photography, we’re always chasing the best light — and nothing compares to Golden Hour.
So what exactly is Golden Hour?
It’s that magical time just after sunrise or just before sunset when the sun is low in the sky and everything is bathed in a soft, golden glow. It’s not really an hour (usually more like 30–45 minutes), but the effect is pure magic — and it makes for some of the most flattering, dreamy, and cinematic photos you’ve ever seen.
There are a few reasons photographers love Golden Hour:
Soft Light – The sun is lower in the sky, which means no harsh shadows or squinting eyes.
Warm Tones – The light is naturally golden and rich, adding warmth and romance to every image.
Natural Glow – Skin tones look soft, smooth, and radiant.
Creative Possibilities – Backlighting, sun flares, and glowing edges around hair and clothing — all easy to achieve at this time of day.
Whether we’re photographing a glowing maternity session, an elegant senior portrait, or a couple in love, Golden Hour gives us the most gorgeous, timeless light nature has to offer.
Golden Hour changes slightly depending on the season and location, but here in Texas, it's generally:
Morning Golden Hour: 15–45 minutes after sunrise
Evening Golden Hour: 30–60 minutes before sunset
We always check the timing before your session so we can make the most of every glowing second.
It’s simple: Golden Hour light makes everything more beautiful. Your skin looks radiant. Your eyes sparkle. The background melts into soft, golden tones that feel almost cinematic. And even on a regular street or open field, it feels like we’re capturing a scene from a movie.
