đž Meet My Golden Retriever: Life Lessons from My Furry Muse
Monday, October 06, 2025 | By: Deborah J Chetwood
If youâve spent any time around Texas Vogue Photography, youâve probably noticed my soft spot for Golden Retrievers. Truth is, weâre on our fifth golden boy, and each one has been a giftâunique in personality, but always full of love, loyalty, and gentle spirit.
These boys have been more than pets. Theyâve been part of our family. They've grown up alongside our child, sat patiently by my side through long editing nights, and welcomed every guest with the kind of warmth only a golden can give.
A Legacy of Goldens
Each of our Goldens has taught me something differentâabout patience, joy, presence, and unconditional love. They remind me daily that lifeâs most beautiful moments often come in the quiet, simple spaces: a wagging tail, a knowing look, a walk at golden hour.
Our current golden (like his predecessors) has become a sort of in-house muse. While he doesnât hold a camera or schedule appointments, he plays a big role in reminding me why I do what I do. He approaches every day with joy, lives fully in each moment, and greets every person as if theyâre already a friend.
A Photographerâs Best Friend
Whether Iâm prepping for a session or winding down after a long day, heâs always thereâby my feet in the studio, curled up nearby while I edit, or waiting to go outside and soak up the sunshine. He reminds me to slow down, savor the now, and appreciate the little things.
That presence, that spiritâthatâs what I try to bring into every session. Because just like the love Iâve received from these incredible dogs, the moments I capture for you are meant to feel genuine, heartfelt, and timeless.
So hereâs to my boysâpast and presentâwho have each, in their own way, inspired the heart behind the lens.
